Do you want to make money online?

You want to make money online. If someone could give you a simple step-by-step instruction on how to get started you can make a beginning at establishing your online business.

Let us start from the beginning. What are you good at? What are your special skills? What can you put up online that will attract others to you?

These are questions you need to ask yourself before you venture online. Most people make the mistake of starting a blog or website and then trying to drive traffic to it through tricks. These may work on a temporary basis but if you want a lasting business it is better to search within and find answers to the questions we started with.

What are your special skills, special characteristics?

Each one of us can do at least one thing very well. We can do it better than the others. Some of us are  highly creative. Some of us have a lot of knowledge on speicific fields. Some of us can do boring jobs that require a lot of repetitive work and focus on details. Suppose you belong to the last group, it is better to understand that. Then we can make money using that skill. There are many creative people who do not have the patience to do repetitive tasks. They will buy your services and you can make money online by selling your time and energy.

The first thing we need to start online is the courage to face ourselves honestly with an open-mind. Our school education makes us believe that creative people are better than people who just follow instructions and carry out routine tasks. In the online world (as well as the offline world) we need both types of people. If everyone is creative and innovative or everyone does just what others tell them to do we will have a horrible world. The beauty of the world lies in the permutations and combinations of interactions  between a variety of complex individual characteristics.

Have you done soul searching yet?

So the first task on hand is to do some soul searching and find out a unique skill, knowledge or ability that you possess which will be appealing to others. You have to view yourself from other's point of view and find out what you can do that will make 100s of other people interested in listening to you, working with you, employing you and recommending you to others.

I wasted a lot of time trying to do what others were doing, trying out the latest money making technique, latest secret that will turn me into a millionnaire over night.

Today I know I am basically a teacher, I can help teachers use the internet resouorces for teaching better, I can help learners learn better through technology, I can help bloggers who want to teach others or start a coaching program, I can help others identify their special skills and make the most of it.

Today's homework: Find who you are and what your special skills are. Do not worry if what you come up with appears very ordinary. We are not in the glammer world. We are people who want to face ourselves as we are, accept ourselves as we are and make the most of it.
